About Nosaka Applied Technology

Established in 2012, Nosaka Applied Technology began in the high-end marine industry but we have more recently been applying our expertise in the design and execution of projects in the Civil Infrastructure and Architectural spaces. Completing widely varied projects both nationally and internationally we are now New Zealand’s most experienced specialists in the use of stainless-steel rigging and fittings on private and commercial projects.

Now teamed strategically with the extensive experience and expertise of Sydney based Tensile Design and Construct we are the New Zealand agents for Jakob Webnet tensile mesh, a product that is expanding rapidly into the market with a multitude of uses.

Quality is always a key consideration, and having honed our skills in the demanding world of superyachts and grand prix race programs, we can apply that passion and attention to detail to give your project that special edge. Taking pride in our care and consideration for the end result are at the forefront of our work practices.

Our founder, director and “rig ninja”, Mike Elley (BEmech) brings a unique combination of skills and experience to your projects. He merges technical and design expertise alongside a practical ‘on the tools’ construction and installation skillset and extensive project management experience.

What does NOSAKA mean?

We are often asked where the name ‘Nosaka’ came from. This originated from the yacht of the same name, which features in some of our images. This yacht was built for export to Osaka, Japan in the early 1990s but due to the economic crisis in Asia at the time ended up remaining in New Zealand – hence the contraction of ‘No Osaka’! When establishing the business Mike was looking for a catchy moniker, and as many people in the marine industry already knew of him via his yacht racing activity helming Nosaka around the Hauraki Gulf, it just seemed to stick.
